1 THING I’M DOING
REMOVING EMF HAZARDS
Let’s get a little close and personal. I hope you don’t mind.
I don’t normally go up to people I barely know and ask them, “Hey, you seem like a nice person. What do you have on your bedside table?” but today I am.
Sooo, what do you have on your bedside table? Books, lights, lists, water glass, creams, lotions, last night’s chocolate wrappers? Yup, those little tables sure can hold a lot of stuff.
Well, as you probably know, there is nothing I love more than finding ways we can live healthier, happier and take ownership of our lives and today, pictures will speak louder than words.
If you’re concerned about EMF radiation (or a little skeptical), you’ll want to check out the video below. You may be shocked at what you see.
Basically, creating a healthy sleeping environment is one of the most important things we can do. It’s when we’re sleeping that our bodies are resting, recovering, repairing themselves and working its magic. We need to protect and honour this space so I hope you enjoy many good night sleeps to come.
PS – Is there something you’d like me to test with my Trifield EMF Reader? Just let me know here.
PPS – Oh, and it’s only fair I share right? On my bedside table, I have my Crystals, Endota Spa Organic Hand Cream, Books I’m reading, my Intelligent Change 5 Minute Journal, reading light, Braun Alarm Clock and a beautiful photo of my sister and I from 30 years ago ❤️
2 THINGS I’VE LEARNT
ASPARTAME
You may have heard the news already. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) are looking to list aspartame as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” this month. I didn’t need a report to tell me that artificial sweeteners could be harmful to our health and to steer clear, but I know for some this research will makes a difference, which is great.
Artificial sweeteners can be found in many products including confectionery and chewing gum so, if a bubbly drink is your craving, there are lots of wonderful organic kombuchas available that may fill that gap. And if you, or anyone you care about, still drinks soft drinks, please share and ask them to stop. Like now.
I count myself very lucky. Shopping at an organic store means I don’t have to be exposed to that long hideous aisle in supermarkets called “soft drinks”.
All that sugar, those artificial colors and sweeteners contributing to people being sick and unhealthy; weight gain, obesity, high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and dental cavities.
All those Coco Cola logos staring at me, a reminder of the behemoth company behind the brand and their evil ways. All that plastic. Oh, just makes me shudder.
Nothing good comes from that aisle except for my filtered Pureau water which I buy when I’m on holidays. And each time I find myself in “that place”, I’m honestly flabbergasted at how many people still fill their trolleys with those drinks. So sad.
If there is one thing we can do to improve our health as a society, that is, DO NOT buy soft drinks (or fruit juices for that matter) and do not think that artificial sweeteners are your answer to weight loss.
WHO DRINKS SOFT DRINKS
An Australian Bureau Statistics report shows that in 2021 “53.4% of men did not usually consume either sugar sweetened or diet drinks compared to 65.6% of women”. That’s a lot of men and women still consuming soft drinks and putting a fortune in those brand’s coffers.
And what about our kids? Surely, they’re not still drinking soft drinks. For kids aged 2 – 17, here are the stats…
- Most did not consume sugar sweetened (79.4%) or diet drinks (90.4%) at all – yay!! 👍
- 3.4% consumed sugar sweetened drinks daily 👎👎👎
- 1.2% consumed diet / artificially sweetened drinks daily 😔
- Younger children aged 2-3 years were more likely to not consume either sugar sweetened or diet drinks compared to older children aged 14-17 years (94.6% compared to 54.6%).
Make the switch. Go for healthy filtered water as your main hydration and add some sparkling mineral water or some Kombucha for a little zing.🙌
3 THINGS TO EXPLORE
WHAT IS HAPPINESS?
Happiness is when our reality and current circumstances match our expectations; I fit into the dress size I want, I have the job I want, I have tonnes of energy, my partner makes me my tea on a Sunday morning just how I love it.
Therefore, unhappiness is when our reality and current circumstances do not match our expectations; I feel exhausted all the time, I never have time for me, money is tight, I’m not as fit as I’d like to be, I want to live somewhere warmer.
Suffering however, is when we’re unhappy AND feel powerless to change things.
In my heart of hearts, I never believe we are powerless.
There is always something we can do, someone that can help us, things we can read and learn to improve our situation, actions we can take, a negative mindset or narrative we can re-wire.
What is something in your life that you’re unhappy about? Where would you like to see yourself? What’s the gap and what are 2 or 3 things you can do to bridge that gap? Now, could you do at least one of those things this week and the next couple?
Yes, it takes energy and work to change things, but being unhappy and miserable, also takes energy and hard work. What is something you’re going to change? Happiness is in your hands.
THE HUMAN BODY
“Most of us still need to learn how to take care of our physical body. We need to learn how to relax and how to sleep. We need to learn how to eat and consume in such a way that our body can be healthy, light, and at ease. If we listen carefully, we can hear our body telling us all the time what it does and does not need. Although its voice is very clear, we seem to have lost our capacity to listen to it. We’ve pushed our body too hard, and so tension and pain have accumulated. We’ve been neglecting our body so long it may be lonely. Our body has wisdom, and we need to give ourselves the chance to hear it”.
Taken from “The Art of Living” by Thich Nhat Hanh, which I am currently reading, OMG this was so beautiful, so perfect in its eloquence and honesty, I had to share.
We have lost our capacity to listen to what our body, our mind and our soul is trying to tell us. So distracted in life with work, obligations, chores, debts, phones, social media, consumerism. I think that’s part of the design really.
Please take some quiet time for yourself this week to really listen to your body, your mind, your spirit and hear what it is trying to tell you. Being alive and here right now is a blessing. We were put here on this earth for a reason. We have gifts that people and the world needs. Don’t waste this chance or time, as we can never get it back.
NO REGRETS
Never regret a day in your life: Good days give happiness, bad days give experience, worst days give lessons, and best days give memories. –Sukhraj S. Dhillon
