We’ve all been told to “drink more water,” but what if that advice is only half the story? New science is revealing that true hydration doesn’t just come from your glass—it comes from your cells, your mitochondria, and even the sun. This week, we’re diving into the surprising, light-powered truth about water, energy, and what it really means to be hydrated. It’s time you heard the truth, the whole truth.

1 Thing I’m Doing

Understanding The Full Hydration Story

Up until recently, my appreciation for water was pretty basic – it kept me healthy and thirst-free. Like most people, I’d heard the “8 glasses a day” advice more times than I could count. And if someone mentioned hydration, my automatic thought was: drink more water. Right?

Wrong.

Drinking water is just one piece of the hydration puzzle. I’ve since discovered that water isn’t just something we need to survive—it’s something we are.

Most of us know we’re “about 70% water,” but that’s just by volume. Here’s the mind-blowing part: by molecular count, we’re 99% water. Said another way, if you lined up all the molecules in your body side by side, 99 out of every 100 would be H₂O.

Let that sink in.

Because water molecules are so incredibly small, they vastly outnumber every other molecule in your body. Which begs the question:

What if we’ve been radically underestimating the role water plays in our energy, focus, sleep, and long-term vitality?

And what if hydration isn’t just about how much you drink… but about how well your body activates and uses that water?

Rewriting the Hydration Rulebook

This is what I’ve been learning lately—and it’s flipped everything I thought I knew on its head.

Hydration isn’t just about drinking enough.

And water is much more than what flows from your tap.

In fact, the best water—the kind your body truly thrives on—is actually made inside you. And the key ingredient for this next-level hydration? 🌞 Sunlight.

So, I’m starting to rewrite a few deeply ingrained hydration beliefs:

Thirst is not the first sign of dehydration.

Drinking water isn’t the best way to hydrate.

Yes, drinking pure, filtered water is a good idea. But that’s only half the story. To truly hydrate your body—on a cellular, mitochondrial, and energetic level—you have to go deeper.

2 Things I’ve Learned

Structured Water Is the Key & Why It’s Better

Your mitochondria, the energy factories of your cells, don’t just make ATP (energy). They also create their own supply of pure, structured water, also known as EZ water (short for Exclusion Zone water).

This is a fourth phase of water. Not quite liquid, not quite solid, and certainly not vapour – it’s gel-like, rich in energy, and incredibly bioavailable. The kind your body actually uses for detox, healing, and energy production.

When your mitochondria are running efficiently, they produce structured, deuterium-depleted water that is:

  • Cleaner and lighter than what comes from your tap

  • Able to hold electrical charge

  • A battery potential energy for every cell

  • Better at flushing toxins and delivering energy

  • Support for proteins to maintain their optimum shape

  • An antenna to receive information both inside and outside the body

But here’s the thing: Structured water only happens when your body is exposed to light—specifically infrared (IR) light, like the kind that hits your skin in the early morning and late afternoon.

EZ water is like a little solar-powered battery inside your cells. More light = more charge = better hydration and detox.

Whilst its’ super important to consume high-quality drinking water – we also need to optimise the production of water made by our mitochondria.

✔️ Action Item: Support your mitochondria this week. That means real food, deep sleep, less tech, more nature—and most important plenty of natural light. Your mitochondria make energy and water. Treat them like the powerhouses they are.

Water Is Your Body’s Battery

Now that we’re all across the structured water our mighty mitochondria make, let’s go one step further.

Water isn’t just a fluid – it’s a power source.

Inside your cells, water separates into positive and negative charges. This charge separation, especially in structured EZ water, allows your cells to store energy—just like a biological battery.

And guess what expands this charge-holding zone?

🌞 Sunlight. Again.

Morning light, especially infrared light, helps build your internal battery by expanding the EZ zone. More EZ = more energy, better brainpower, improved detox, and sharper focus.

Dehydration doesn’t just dry you out—it shorts your electrical system. Brain fog, low mood, fatigue…they’re often symptoms of not just low water, but low structured water.

✔️ Action Item: Get outside first thing in the morning. Let that golden light touch your skin and eyes (no sunglasses, no sunscreen) for 10–15 minutes. You’ll supercharge your cells and jump-start your hydration at the same time.

 3 Things to Explore

Quantum Hydration for the Circadian Health Warrior

If you’re ready to take your hydration next level, here’s your toolkit:

💧 Drink cleaner water: Tap water is often contaminated with fluoride, chlorine, and other chemicals that block structured water formation. One of the most important health actions you can take for your cells and mitochondria is filter your water, drink spring water or use a reverse osmosis system. Don’t forget to add minerals back in (Himalayan or Celtic sea salt, fulvic / humic acid) is ideal.

Water 2.0 Hydration Why You Should Filter Your Water

💧 Ditch fluoride & chlorine: These disrupt your body’s ability to form EZ water. Another win for good filtration.

💧 Reduce nnEMFs: Non-native EMFs from Wi-Fi and microwaves distort water’s natural structure—even inside your cells.

💧 Salt smarter: Try putting a couple of Celtic sea salt crystals under your tongue before drinking water. It helps pull water into your cells where it’s needed.

💧 Eat your water: Moisture-rich foods—like fruit, soups, broths, and cooked veggies hydrate better than plain water alone.

💧 Time your drinking: Drink water 30 minutes before meals to support digestion. Limit fluids during meals to preserve stomach acid and avoid bloating.

💧 Stack your strategies: Sunlight + filtered water + electrolytes – EMFs + smart timing = true quantum hydration.

✔️ Action Item: Pick 2–3 strategies to focus on this week. Hydration isn’t just about quantity—it’s about quality, structure, charge, and location. Start hydrating from the inside out.

It’s time to stop thinking of water as just something you drink…and start thinking of it as something you activate.

Because when it comes to true hydration, the game-changer isn’t just how much water you consume. It’s the kind of water your cells can actually use—and that depends on light, structure, and charge.

The Fourth Phase of Water

If you’re intrigued by water, it’s magnificence and want to get to know it better, I highly recommend the book, “The Fourth Phase of Water” by Gerald Pollack

Dr Pollack takes us on a fantastic voyage through water, showing us a hidden universe of water that we never learnt at school, all whilst providing simple explanations for common everyday phenomena.
