This week, I want to tune into something that’s been on my mind a lot: sound, frequencies, and the impact they have on our bodies. If you’ve ever got the chills listening to a certain song, felt an immediate sense of calm from a particular melody, or even experienced the need to just close your eyes and listen to something fully or experienced a deep meditative state through sound therapy—you know what I mean.

1 Thing I’m Doing

Noticing The Frequencies We’re Bathed in Every Day

We are vibrational beings. Every cell, every organ, and even our consciousness itself resonates with frequency. Ancient civilisations understood this intuitively, using sound for healing, spiritual awakening, and even building monumental structures. And now, modern science may be finally catching up.

Have you ever watched a glass of water ripple when music plays? Now, think about this—we are made up of around 60% water – not to mention our cerebrospinal fluid, which is 99% water, and constantly bathing our brain and spinal cord. If sound can make a simple glass of water vibrate, imagine what it’s doing inside us. Every note, every frequency we’re exposed to, is influencing us on a cellular level. Just like that glass of water, we are constantly responding to the frequencies around us, whether we’re aware of it or not.

Over the past couple of months in particular, I’ve been more mindful of the sounds I surround myself with—whether it’s the hum of technology, the natural rhythm of birdsong in the morning, or the frequencies embedded in music. I’m tuning in, quite literally, and I invite you to do the same.

 2 Things I’ve Learned

The Schumann Resonance: The Earth’s Heartbeat

There are two ancient frequencies that are still shaping us today. Here’s what they are and why they matter.

Imagine the Earth as a living, breathing entity—one that emits a frequency that harmonises with our own biology. That’s the Schumann Resonance, a low-frequency electromagnetic pulse that vibrates at around 7.83 Hz.

Discovered in 1952 by physicist Winfried Otto Schumann, this frequency is often referred to as the “heartbeat of the Earth.” What’s wild is that our brainwaves also operate at similar frequencies during states of relaxation and deep meditation. When we’re disconnected from nature—surrounded by WiFi, artificial lighting, and screens—we may lose touch with this natural rhythm, leading to stress, insomnia, and even immune dysfunction.

Walking barefoot, spending time in nature, and grounding ourselves physically to the Earth can help realign our bodies with this frequency, bringing balance back to our nervous system.

432 Hz: The Frequency of Harmony and Healing

Ever heard of 432 Hz music? It’s said to be the natural frequency of the universe, resonating with the golden ratio found in nature, our DNA, and even the way galaxies spiral. Unlike the standard tuning of most modern music (440 Hz), 432 Hz is believed to have a calming, harmonising effect on the body and mind.

But here’s the interesting part—why isn’t music tuned to 432 Hz anymore?

Historically, instruments were often tuned to 432 Hz, but that changed in the 20th century. It is believed that around 1939, the Rockefeller Foundation pushed for 440 Hz to become the new standard, and in 1953, it was officially adopted by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO). Some theories suggest this change was intentional, as 440 Hz is said to cause more tension and agitation in listeners compared to the more harmonious 432 Hz.

Scientific studies suggest that listening to 432 Hz music can:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Enhance cognitive function
  • Synchronise brain hemispheres
  • Promote deep relaxation and meditation

Some musicians even argue that tuning instruments to 432 Hz instead of 440 Hz creates a warmer, more organic sound that feels right at a subconscious level. Try it yourself—many songs are available in both tunings on platforms like YouTube. Just search for “(Insert Your Song Title Here) 432 Hz” and compare it to the standard version. Pay attention to how your body feels, your breath, and even your emotions—see which version feels more natural or soothing to you.

Here’s one of my all-time favourite songs brought to you in warmer, fuller, happier 432 Hz tones. Perhaps it would be better to say “I can hear clearly now”. 😊

✔️ Action Item: Try some 432 Hz beats on for size this week. There is even a playlist on Spotify of popular songs tuned to 432 Hz which you can sing along to here.

How Do 7.83 Hz and 432 Hz Frequencies Fit Together?

It might seem contradictory or confusing to call 7.83 Hz the frequency of the Earth and 432 Hz the frequency of the universe, but they actually operate in different ways. Here’s how:

– 7.83 Hz is a very low frequency: it’s part of the ELF (extremely low frequency) spectrum and corresponds to Earth’s electromagnetic field, which influences our brainwaves and biology.

– 432 Hz is a higher frequency: it falls within the range of human hearing and is associated with musical tuning, harmonic resonance, and relaxation.

Think of it this way. 7.83 Hz is the rhythm of our biological existence, while 432 Hz is a harmonic key that influences the way we perceive sound and vibration. Both are believed to impact our well-being, but they operate in different contexts—one in the realm of electromagnetic fields, the other in acoustic resonance.

 3 Things to Explore

Simple Sound Shifts That Can Transform Your Energy: A 432 Hz Playlist for Relaxation

If you’re curious about the effects of 432 Hz, I recommend searching for a curated playlist on YouTube or Spotify. There are so many! Play it while you’re working, meditating, relaxing in the bath (my favourite) or winding down at night.

I also put 432 Hz on, in ear shot of my children if they’re having a hard time falling asleep or settling down at the end of the day. You might be surprised by how your (or their) body responds.

Sound Therapy: The Future of Medicine?

Are you needing some healing – be it physical, mental, or emotional? You may want to give sound therapy a go.

Sound baths, binaural beats, and tuning forks are being used in wellness practices to shift brain states, reduce inflammation, and promote healing. But you don’t have to visit a sound healer or attend a formal sound bath to experience the benefits. These days, you’re able to tap into the power of sound therapy right from your living room.

There are entire playlists designed to shift your state of mind, from 432 Hz meditation tracks to binaural beats for focus and sleep. Here are just a few to look into and explore:

  • 432 Hz
  • Binaural Beats
  • Solfeggio Frequencies (linked to ancient healing practices)
  • Tuning Forks
  • Crystal Bowls

Just pop on some music, close your eyes, and let the frequencies do their thing. This could just be the medicine your mind, body and soul needs.

How We’re Shifted By Sound

We are constantly surrounded by frequency, whether we realise it or not. By being intentional with the sounds we absorb and the frequencies we’re exposed to, we can shift our energy, align with nature, and even tap into deeper states of consciousness.

✔️ Action Item: This week, I challenge you to experiment with the power of sound—whether that’s listening to 432 Hz music, spending time in nature to sync with the Schumann Resonance, or simply being mindful of the auditory world you’re bathing in.

Let me know what you discover. What sounds uplift you? Have you ever noticed a shift in energy based on the frequencies around you? Here’s to tuning in and turning up the good vibes!
