1 THING I’M DOING

The Strange Things You Take On Holidays

Picture this: it’s a sunny Sunday afternoon, and you’re excitedly packing your bags for a family road trip to Sydney. You have some tunes playing in the background and you’re checking off your list of things to take. Toiletries? Check. Journal and phone chargers? Double check. Bathers, Vitamins, TriField EMF Reader? Triple what the?

Yup, you heard right. You know those curious souls that want to know all about the places they are staying at? Well, I’m that person. And here’s what happened on our latest adventure over the Winter holidays.

First, we absolutely love our road trips!

We cram the kids and puppy dog in the car, and fill the boot to the roof. Our latest trip was to Sydney, hoping that the warmer latitude would help us dodge some of Melbourne’s winter weather. And for the record. It worked! The weather was amazing. Blue skies and sunshine every day and yes, swimming in Bondi Beach (multiple times) was definitely on the cards.

But back to the TriField EMF Reader. We booked a lovely apartment in Bondi, a few minutes’ walk from the beach. After a day or two, we noticed a few things. Our sleep wasn’t as peaceful as usual, headaches crept in and there was a heaviness around us. I decided to whip our the TriField and here’s what we uncovered in the master bedroom.

While the ideal EMF reading should be 0.3 V/m, our master bedroom was reading over 90! I’m not sure just how many percent that is above the “safe” level, but let’s just agree that it’s not good.

I felt we were being zapped at a cellular level and like one of those bugs being caught in an electric bug catcher. Zzzp! Zzzp!

Of course, if I didn’t have my Trifield on me I’d be none the wiser. You see, EMF is the hidden danger we can’t see. And just because we can’t see something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist or that it can’t hurt us. It just means we need to be aware.

We moved our bed away from the wall to create some distance. We checked the kids’ bedroom and let’s just say, I wasn’t reading in bed much as there were other rooms in the house that were much more conducive to hanging around it.

So, if you’re staying somewhere new and you’re feeling off. Maybe drained of energy, headache-y, nausea, problem sleeping. It may not be the nachos you had for dinner at the Pub but perhaps the radiation that surrounds you.

✔️ Action Item – Check your bedroom for external EMF dangers. Electric meter boxes and smart metres are the worst offenders (which was the trouble maker here in Sydney). Also, what’s the “craziest” thing you take away with you on holidays? I’d love to hear

2 THINGS I’VE LEARNT

Where Does EMF Lurk In Your Home?

In short, EMF stands for “electromagnetic fields”, which in plain English means radiation. It refers to electrical, magnetic and radio frequency radiation from the following sources so wherever you find things like this in your home, you’ll find EMF radiation:

  • Wifi Signals
  • Routers
  • Smartphones
  • Smart meters
  • Thermostats
  • Smart TVs
  • Gaming consoles
  • Wireless cameras, printers, monitors
  • Electrical appliances
  • Smart watches
  • Remote controls
  • Power switches
  • Outside power poles and phone towers

There is a great website you can find a tonne of information about EMF including the EMF Readings for 19 Home Appliances and 45 Typical Sources Of EMF Radiation At Home. It’s an interesting read so dive right in, but just one caveat. The EMF readings would vary depending on your appliance and also the wiring in your house, how old it is and how it was done. So, keep that in mind as you explore and perhaps look more for the trends than actual numbers such as the induction cooktop and microwave being the worst offenders in your kitchen. Another reason not to cook right?

And for those that like me, like numbers, here are the EMF levels that building biologists aim for when they are trying to create safe living environments:

EMF Radiation Recommended Levels

✔️ Action Item – Get to know the EMF friends and foes in your home. Perhaps when the microwave next dies, maybe go without for a little while and see how you go. The last time I owned and used a microwave was in the 1990’s in the Nurse’s Residence. Sure, the microwave popcorn tasted good, but being healthy is even more delicious.

10 Ways You Can Reduce Your EMF Exposure

There are literally thousands of high-quality, peer-reviewed scientific studies linking EMF exposure with many negative health effects —from damaging your DNA and cells, to weakening your blood, reducing fertility, it can even increase your risk of certain cancers.

The sad reality is this. The technology that emits EMF radiation continues to grow at an exponential rate. More products with higher and stronger frequencies are creeping into our homes, workspaces and lives every day. This means our exposure to EMF is not going to get less any time soon but will just sadly continue to grow. But unless we’re all willing to go back to the 1980’s, we’re stuck with EMF exposure as a fundamental fact of life that we just have to deal with. So, here are some simple things you can do in your home and workspace to deal with this hidden danger.

1. Turn Off Your WiFi at Night

This is one of the most important things you can do. Your WiFi router is a major source of EMF exposure whilst night time is your time for rest, repair and rejuvenation. Switching off your WiFi will help make your sleep time more restful on a cellular level (just as it should be) and it will significantly reduce your EMF exposure over the course of a full 24 hour day.

2. Use Wired Internet Connections

Wherever you can, switch from Wi-Fi to wired connections using Ethernet cables. I know we don’t like the look of those unsightly cables, but this simple change can significantly reduce your home or office’s overall EMF levels.

3. Keep Devices Away from Your Body

Avoid carrying your mobile phone in your pocket, bra or on you. Or placing your laptop directly on your lap. The further these devices are from your body, the better. In fact, whilst you’re working, why not put your phone out of arm’s reach. Not only will you be reducing your EMF exposure but you’ll avoid those pesky distractions and getting lost on socials.

4. Use Speakerphone or Wired Earphones & Headphones

I know wireless headphones and earbuds are all the rage. In fact, I’m seriously surprised by how many kids I see using these at my children’s High School. Look, each to their own and I’m not here to be judge-y judgey. But as my commitment to the Unstoppables family is to be honest and help you protect your health as much as I can, even if the information I’m sharing isn’t popular or comfortable, here goes.

Wireless headphones and ear buds rely on Bluetooth technology to communicate with your phone or any other device that can transmit a Bluetooth signal. Bluetooth technology operates on short-range radio waves to facilitate wireless communication between devices. It uses the 2.4 GHz frequency band and a technique called frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) which minimises interference from other wireless devices operating in the same frequency range.

When two Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as a smartphone and a pair of earbuds, are paired, they establish a secure, encrypted connection. This allows for the transmission of data, such as audio signals, between the devices.

The wireless earpiece obviously goes into your ear. This means that the earpiece that is sending and receiving frequencies is as close to your brain as practically possible. I personally don’t think this is a great idea – especially if we are trying to reduce radiation around our brains.

Dr Joel Moskowitz, a public health professor at the University of California, said in an interview….

“We are playing with fire here… You are putting a microwave-emitting device next to your brain… It’s like we keep rediscovering that Bluetooth is harmful and trying to forget it.”

5. Create A Tech Free Bubble Near Your Bed

World expert building biologists recommend creating a 2.5m tech free zone near your bed. This means no technology. No phones. No iPads. And nothing plugged into any nearby power points. Speaking of which…

6. Ditch The Bedside Clock Radios

These little devices may look harmless enough but they are a big problem! First, the EMF radiation they give off is huge. Check out this little video I did a while ago here. Secondly, we typically place these right next to our heads when we are sleeping. Another a big no no! No-one needs radiation zapping their head and body during the night. Swap out your electric alarm clocks and opt for battery-powered ones instead.

7. Ditch The Electric Blankets

I know…I have “baby it’s cold outside” playing in my head too and oh, how wonderful it is to jump into a toasty bed instead of icy cold sheets right? Wrong. Another really bad idea is electric blankets. When you place an electric blanket directly on top of your skin you will constantly be exposed to radiation at 10 -20 time the recommended maximum levels

8. Opt Out of Wireless Baby Monitors

Wireless baby monitors, just like all wireless devices, give off EMF radiation and can expose our precious little ones to EMFs. Use wired monitors to keep your babies safer.

9. Switch Off Electrical Appliances & Outlets

Anything switched on will give off EMF radiation. To reduce your exposure, switch off your appliances like your kettles, toasters, the electric piano (which my daughter notoriously keeps leaving on), TV and anything else you can when you’re not using it. I also have a habit of making sure the power switches are in the off position, even if nothing is plugged in.

10. Use EMF Shields

I have several EMF shielding products that I love and use. You can check some of them out here. Protective devices like EMF shields or cases for your mobile phone and laptop will definitely minimise your exposure and help keep you and your family safe and healthy.

BONUS Point – Wait For Good Signals

When the signal is poor, your wireless devices emits more radiation so avoid using when you’re surrounded by metal such as in an elevator, or while travelling in car, buses or trains.

✔️ Action Item – Do an EMF audit of your home and workspace. Are there any nasty EMF emitters you can give the flick? Whilst you may not feel an immediate boost, your longer term health and self will thank you.

The EMF Guy

Do you have any early warning signs of EMF damage (fatigue, brain fog, dry skin, chronic stress, discomfort in your joints and muscles, irritability, poor sleep, tinnitus, headaches and migraines)? Or has your interest in EMF dangers been piqued? If you’d like to explore more, then Nick Pineault, otherwise known as the EMF Guy, is your well um…guy 😊

He has a free online webinar, a great course about how to deal with electropollution and his website and podcast are bursting with actual facts, figures and scientific reports, that your friendly neighbourhood government or associated agency won’t tell you about.

I also highly recommend investing in an EMF reader like the Trifield I have. You can check your home and workplace and also share the love with your family and friends who are fellow wellness warriors.

We are beings of light, water and magnetism and from a quantum biology perspective, heath is based on electromagnetic principals. Reducing your EMF is a step in the right direction to improving your health so here’s to creating a healthier home and work environment.

✔️ Action Item – Knowledge is the first step to change. Once we know better, we do better. This week allocate 30 minutes to do an EMF survey of your home and workspace and identify three simple actions you can take to reduce your exposure.
